Tara Bishun, GM, is pleased to announce promotions at the Fairfield Inn Long Island City!

Maura Vargas

Maura Vargas started with us in March of 2011 as a housekeeper where she showed pride in her job and received excellent reviews from her direct supervisors.

In late 2012 when the breakfast department was short-staffed Maura volunteered to cover breakfast shifts where she quickly learned the breakfast operations and asked to be moved permanently to the breakfast department. In this department she took a leading role within the first few months that the other breakfast staff thought she was a breakfast supervisor. Maura took great pride in ensuring customer needs were met and always did it with a smile. She also took it upon herself to re-organize the stock room and showed interest in inventory control and ordering.

In mid 2013 she was eager to learn front desk and was given the opportunity without hesitation, once again she excelled in front desk operations and customer satisfaction. In her front desk agent role she has learned night audit and covered many of those shifts during call outs. Maura received and continues to receive great feedback from customers and management. I am proud of her achievement in all 3 of her roles during her four years with the hotel. She definitely has potential for growth and development in the hospitality industry, I have no doubt that she will excel in her newest role of Front Office Supervisor. Congratulations Maura. Anastasia Browning

Miss Browning started with us in February 2011 as front desk agent/night auditor. In the early years she did mainly night audit shifts while attending classes at La Guardia College.

In late 2012 Anastasia expressed her interest in the front office supervisor role and was promoted in that year as she was always the first to suggest new and exciting ways of meeting the customers’ expectations. As a Front Office Supervisor she took her role very serious and always met her deadlines. Her promotion came with many challenges and new expectations, while she struggled, she used every opportunity as a learning experienced and has grown tremendously as team player and a leader. Anastasia has also achieved the Fire Safety Director certification and is the proud holder of this license.

We are excited to see her taking on yet another role, though different this time, and have no doubt she will be phenomenal. Congratulations Anastasia.
